Milky | japanese packaging lamp

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by Asia, first China, I used to collect labels from Chinese snack packages bought at the local shop and stick them into a notebook, then Korea, and of course Japan.

As I grew up, I was lucky enough to visit all three countries, and I’m dying to go back.

The iconography, the characters, the graphic design, the packaging… Whenever I see "Asian" characters on a pack of noodles or on something I don’t even recognize, I just want to buy it and try it (sometimes there are surprises 😄).

When I received my first multi-color printer, I started thinking about a project that would be simple to make but would really take advantage of the machine’s multi-material printing capabilities.

I thought about Japanese lanterns and Chinese paper lamps, and decided to merge everything I love—packaging, Japanese characters, 3D printing, and lighting—into one object: Milky, a Japanese milk carton lamp.

Fun and colorful, the lamp is inspired by milk and juice packaging.

The katakana characters マケヨ read “ma ke yo.”

Technical informations :

-The lamp is made for e14 socket ( ask if you need e27)
- You will find already painted model .3mf using 4 colors ( AMS or multi color printer required )
